Agentic AI Stocks in 2026: Companies, Risks, and Research

Agentic AI stocks are shares in companies building AI systems or infrastructure. These systems can plan steps, use tools, and complete parts of a task. NVIDIA, Microsoft, Alphabet, Salesforce, and ServiceNow offer different ways to research this theme.

None is a pure measure of agentic AI demand. Each company has other products and revenue sources. A promising technology also does not guarantee a good stock purchase. You still need to examine growth, costs, competition, and price.

This guide helps you compare the businesses. It does not rank stocks by expected returns. Company figures below come from releases available by October 1, 2026. Share prices change throughout trading days, so this article does not present them.

What is agentic AI?

Agentic AI describes systems that can take steps toward a goal. An agent may retrieve information, use software tools, and request approval. Its design determines what it can actually do.

Imagine you ask a business system to prepare a sales report. A basic chatbot might explain how to make one. An agent could collect approved data, create a draft, and flag missing figures. A person might then check and send the report.

That example does not mean every “AI agent” works independently. Products differ widely. Some need close human supervision. Others handle several steps inside defined limits. Security, data access, and reliability all affect adoption.

For investors, the key question is practical. Who earns money when customers use these systems? The answer might involve chips, cloud computing, software subscriptions, or services. Several companies may share one customer’s spending.

If you want a closer look at the products, our AI agent tools guide explains enterprise platforms and implementation.

What counts as an agentic AI stock?

There is no official “agentic AI stock” category. It is an investment theme that groups companies by possible exposure.

A chipmaker may supply computing power. A cloud provider may host models and applications. A software vendor may sell agents inside business workflows. Those roles overlap, but their economics differ.

Use this research map:

Business role How it may earn revenue Main question
Infrastructure Chips, systems, and related products Will demand justify capacity and spending?
Cloud and platforms Computing, development tools, and subscriptions Can usage grow profitably?
Business applications Software subscriptions or usage Will customers adopt and retain agents?
Workflow software Automation and governance products Can AI improve paid customer workflows?

A company announcement establishes product direction. It does not prove that one product drives the whole business. Check reported results for that distinction.

Five public companies to research

These five companies cover different parts of the agentic AI market. They are research examples, not buy recommendations. Their reported figures use different fiscal calendars and measures.

Company Ticker Main exposure in this guide Important limitation
NVIDIA NVDA AI computing infrastructure AI revenue is broader than agents
Microsoft MSFT Cloud, workplace tools, agent platforms Agent revenue is not separately isolated
Alphabet GOOGL / GOOG Cloud infrastructure and AI tools Search and advertising remain major businesses
Salesforce CRM Customer-facing AI agents Agentforce measures need careful reading
ServiceNow NOW Enterprise workflows and AI governance AI contract value differs from revenue

NVIDIA (NVDA): Computing infrastructure

NVIDIA supplies computing products used across many AI workloads. Agentic applications can create demand for inference and data processing. That makes NVIDIA relevant to this theme. It does not make every NVIDIA sale an agentic AI sale.

For its second quarter of fiscal 2027, NVIDIA reported $96.2 billion in revenue. Data Center revenue reached $89.0 billion. The quarter ended July 26, 2026. Those figures reflect broad AI infrastructure demand. The company does not label that entire amount “agentic AI revenue.” investor.nvidia.com

NVIDIA has also described infrastructure designed for agentic workloads. Product plans deserve attention, but investors must separate launches from proven returns. Watch customer demand, gross margin, competition, and supply.

Here is the central risk: a strong company can carry high expectations. If future growth falls short, its share price may react sharply. Revenue growth alone cannot tell you whether today’s valuation makes sense.

Microsoft (MSFT): Cloud and workplace agents

Microsoft can reach customers through Azure and workplace software. It also offers tools for building and managing agents. That creates several possible ways to earn revenue.

Microsoft reported $90.0 billion in revenue for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Microsoft Cloud revenue reached $59.3 billion. The company said Microsoft 365 Copilot had surpassed 30 million paid seats. These are broad business measures, not a separate agentic AI income statement. Microsoft

Microsoft has described agent-related development across its products. Its tools include Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry. The company also emphasizes business context and controls for agents. Source Asia

When you research Microsoft, ask what customers pay. Check whether adoption leads to durable revenue. Then consider the spending needed to support AI infrastructure. A growing user count does not reveal each product’s profit.

Microsoft’s other businesses also matter. Buying MSFT gives you exposure to the entire company. You cannot isolate your investment to its agent products.

Alphabet (GOOGL and GOOG): Cloud and AI platforms

Alphabet combines cloud infrastructure with AI products and research. Google Cloud gives businesses tools to build and run AI applications. That makes Alphabet another way to study agentic AI demand.

In the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Alphabet reported $119.8 billion in total revenue. Google Cloud revenue reached $24.8 billion, up 82% year over year. The company linked Cloud growth to AI infrastructure, AI solutions, and core services. The Cloud figure does not isolate agent revenue.

Alphabet also earns substantial revenue outside Cloud. Search, YouTube, and other services shape its overall results. An investor must evaluate those businesses too.

Watch Cloud growth alongside operating costs. Ask whether strong demand produces attractive returns after infrastructure spending. Also check whether growth remains strong as comparisons change.

One quarter cannot settle that question. Look across several reports before drawing a conclusion.

Salesforce (CRM): Customer-facing agents

Salesforce offers a more direct software angle through Agentforce. Its products sit near sales, service, data, and customer workflows. That position gives the company opportunities to sell agent features to existing customers.

For its second quarter of fiscal 2027, Salesforce reported more than $1.5 billion in Agentforce annual recurring revenue. It said that figure grew more than 240% year over year. Salesforce also reported nearly $3.9 billion in combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR.

Read the definition before comparing that number elsewhere. Salesforce says its Agentforce ARR measure now includes Slackbot and Headless 360 AI offerings. ARR is a recurring-revenue measure, not the same as quarterly cash receipts.

You should ask how much demand is new. Do customers add agent products to existing contracts? Are they using them repeatedly? Does the company earn attractive margins from that usage?

Salesforce also reports “Agentic Work Units.” That is a company-defined activity measure. It can show usage trends, but it is not a substitute for revenue or profit.

ServiceNow (NOW): Enterprise workflow automation

ServiceNow sells software for business processes and workflow management. AI agents could help customers complete tasks across those processes. The company also offers tools to govern AI systems.

ServiceNow reported $3.88 billion in subscription revenue for its second quarter of 2026. It said ServiceNow AI passed $1 billion in annual contract value during that quarter. Its release also discussed agent deployments and AI governance products. ServiceNow Newsroom

Annual contract value and recognized subscription revenue differ. Do not add those figures together. Do not compare ACV directly with Salesforce’s ARR either. The companies define and report different measures.

For ServiceNow, study how AI fits existing customer contracts. Ask whether adoption improves renewals and expansion. Then examine the costs of developing and delivering those tools.

A compelling product demonstration can attract attention. Long-term investment results depend on repeatable economics.

Which company has the strongest agentic AI exposure?

There is no single answer without defining “exposure.” A company can have high AI revenue and limited agent-specific disclosure. Another may report a clearer agent measure within a smaller business.

Consider three ways to define exposure:

  1. Infrastructure demand: NVIDIA may benefit when customers buy computing capacity.
  2. Platform distribution: Microsoft and Alphabet can supply cloud tools.
  3. Software monetization: Salesforce and ServiceNow can sell workflow products.

These are business descriptions, not return forecasts. Each company faces different risks. You should compare its AI opportunity with its entire business and valuation.

For example, Salesforce reports Agentforce ARR. That gives you a named measure to track. NVIDIA reports much larger Data Center revenue. That figure includes many AI uses. Neither fact tells you which stock offers a better price today.

The useful question becomes more specific: What result must happen for the current share price to make sense? That requires current market data and your own assumptions.

How to research agentic AI stocks step by step

Begin with company filings and current prices. A product announcement should prompt research, not end it.

1. Identify the business model

Write down what the company sells. Then identify who pays and why. An agent feature may sit inside a broader subscription. Another company may bill for cloud usage.

If you cannot explain the revenue path, keep researching. “The company uses AI” is too vague for an investment case.

2. Separate agent measures from broader AI measures

Look for the company’s exact definition. Agentforce ARR, Cloud revenue, and Data Center revenue measure different things. None can stand in for another.

Read footnotes when a company changes its definition. A newly included product can affect comparisons. Review several reporting periods where possible.

3. Examine growth and profitability

Revenue growth deserves attention. So do gross margins, operating income, and cash flows. Building AI products and infrastructure can cost substantial money.

Ask how much a company spends to serve new demand. Then ask whether it can keep earning attractive returns as competition grows.

4. Check valuation using current data

A share price changes. So do earnings estimates. Before investing, calculate valuation with figures from the same date.

Common comparisons include price to earnings and enterprise value to sales. Neither works equally well for every company. Read the balance sheet and business model first.

An excellent business can become an expensive stock. A lower valuation can also reflect genuine weaknesses. You need both sides of that picture.

5. Read the risk factors

Open the company’s latest annual and quarterly filings. Look for competition, customer concentration, regulation, security, and infrastructure needs.

AI agents may handle sensitive information. Businesses may delay deployment when reliability or governance falls short. That could affect adoption even when the technology attracts interest.

6. Decide how the position fits your portfolio

A stock can look attractive alone while adding unwanted concentration. Check your existing exposure to technology and AI infrastructure.

Several companies in this article may respond to similar market expectations. Owning different tickers does not automatically remove that overlap.

Agentic AI stock risks you should understand

The largest risk is confusing a strong technology trend with a guaranteed return. Businesses may adopt agents quickly while share prices still disappoint.

High expectations

Investors can price in years of growth early. Later results must then meet demanding assumptions. Even good earnings may not satisfy those expectations.

Unclear revenue attribution

Companies often group AI products with broader services. That makes direct comparison difficult. A broad Cloud figure cannot prove agent-specific demand.

Competition

Major technology companies compete across chips, platforms, and applications. Customers can test several providers. Product improvements may change their choices.

High spending

Infrastructure needs power, facilities, hardware, and technical talent. Software vendors also spend on development and delivery. Revenue growth may arrive alongside rising costs.

Security and reliability

Agents need boundaries and oversight. A system that takes actions can create costly errors. Enterprise customers may require extensive controls before expanding use.

Changing definitions

A company may revise how it reports AI usage or recurring revenue. Always read the newest definition. Salesforce’s expanded Agentforce ARR definition shows why this matters.

Market volatility

Stock prices can move on earnings, forecasts, or interest-rate expectations. Those movements may have little to do with one agent product. Avoid treating daily price moves as proof of product success.

Should beginners buy individual agentic AI stocks?

Beginners should first understand concentration and valuation risk. A company list is a research starting point, not a shopping list.

Suppose you already own a broad U.S. stock fund. You may already have exposure to several companies here. Check the fund’s holdings before adding individual positions.

If you still want to research one company, start small on paper. Write a one-page investment case. Record the current price, your assumptions, and the main risks. Revisit it after the next earnings report.

Ask what evidence would change your mind. That question can keep enthusiasm from becoming an unchecked forecast.

You can also decide that an individual stock is unsuitable. The theme does not require you to buy anything. Your goals, time horizon, and tolerance for losses matter.

How can you compare these stocks fairly?

Use the same questions for every company. Then allow for differences in their business models.

Research question What to check
What does the company sell? Products, customers, and contracts
How much AI revenue can you identify? Reported figures and definitions
Is demand lasting? Renewals, usage, and repeat purchases
What does growth cost? Capital spending and operating margins
What are the main threats? Competition, reliability, and customer risks
What is priced into the stock? Current valuation and assumptions

Do not score every company from one headline. Read the latest earnings release and filing. Follow changes across multiple quarters.

For example, NVIDIA’s Data Center result reflects infrastructure sales. Salesforce’s ARR reflects a recurring measure. ServiceNow’s AI ACV reflects contract value. Each matters within its own reporting framework. They are not interchangeable.

Frequently asked questions

What are agentic AI stocks?

They are public company shares linked to AI agent products or infrastructure. The term describes an investment theme. It does not identify a formal exchange category.

Is there one pure agentic AI stock?

Do not assume a company offers pure exposure. Most public companies discussed here earn money from many products. Review each revenue breakdown before making that claim.

Is NVIDIA an agentic AI stock?

NVIDIA is relevant through AI infrastructure. Its chips and systems support many AI workloads. Its reported Data Center revenue is broader than agentic AI.

Is Salesforce directly involved in AI agents?

Yes. Salesforce sells Agentforce products. It reported more than $1.5 billion in Agentforce ARR for fiscal Q2 2027. Check its current definition before comparing periods.

Are agentic AI stocks good investments in 2026?

The theme alone cannot answer that. You need a current share price, business outlook, valuation, and risk assessment. A growing market does not guarantee shareholder returns.

What is the difference between AI and agentic AI stocks?

The terms overlap. “AI stocks” covers a wider set of businesses. “Agentic AI stocks” focuses on companies involved in systems that can perform steps toward a goal.

Can I compare agent revenue across companies?

Only when you understand each company’s reporting definition. ARR, ACV, Cloud revenue, and chip sales differ. A simple ranking may mislead you.

Which risks deserve the most attention?

Start with valuation, competition, spending, and product adoption. Then review the company’s own filings. Your existing portfolio exposure also matters.

Final takeaway

Agentic AI stocks offer several ways to study a growing technology theme. NVIDIA supplies infrastructure. Microsoft and Alphabet provide platforms. Salesforce and ServiceNow sell business software tied to agent workflows.

That overview does not identify a winning investment. Compare reported measures carefully. Check the latest filings and current prices. Decide what growth the valuation already assumes.

The most useful question is straightforward: Can the company turn agent adoption into durable profit at a price you can justify?
